This was a commission for a co-worker. Her request was simple and open "draw me an Indian girl." So I did.
There was an old Native American tale I always liked about the first woman who received some jewels from husband when along came a tricky fox who wanted them for himself. After much trickery on both sides the woman ends up hiding the jewels in the sky, thus we have stars. Moral of the story: women are even trickier than a fox?!
The basic model for this was Mizuo Peck (she played Sacajawea in Night at the museum) but I also included some slight facial features from the commissioner herself.
Aw thanks for the comment on this one RJW14, in fact, thanks for all the comments lately!!!
I'm pretty proud of this one, I think it's my best photo realism style to date. I was sad to have to give the origional away. I'm thinking of buying this print for myself. Does anyone know if you have to pay full DA print price if you are ordering your own work?
I love it!!
